Features and Design
The Cuisinart EM-100 has a sleek, classic look and measures 8.2 x 10.9 x 12.6 inches, making it relatively compact and perfect for most kitchens.

With 15 bars of pressure and a dial you can use to select your serving size, brewing high-quality espresso at home is easy.  The EM-100 allows you to use ground espresso or pods, which is an excellent feature; a lot of other machines confine you to one option or the other and do not allow you to choose.

A steam function and stainless steel nozzle give you the added value of being able to froth milk.  The drip tray is removable for easy clean-up.  A combination tamping tool and scoop is included with your purchase for your convenience.

What Customers Are Saying
As mentioned earlier, there are more than 490 ratings for the Cuisinart EM-100 on  More than 150 customers have written 5-star reviews for this Cuisinart espresso machine.  What are they saying?  According to the top reviewers, the machine is well built and sturdy, which is a pleasant surprise in this low price bracket.

The large water reservoir is convenient and makes it possible to make 4 or 5 espressos before refilling.  An instructional DVD is included which makes it easy to learn to use the espresso maker, and so long as you use high-quality coffee grounds or pods, you will enjoy a delicious cup every time.  One customer said, “With the right beans and a bit of practice, you can beat the taste of any coffee shop with this.”

What about negatives?  The machine does have a few negative reviews.  Most of them point toward various design flaws, which appear to be specific to individual units, not to the machine overall.  The machine does come with a warranty, which should cover you in case of one of these failures (which may happen right out of the box), though one customer did mention having problems with the warranty process.

No espresso maker is completely perfect, and the Cuisinart EM-100 isn’t a perfect model either.  What it is however is very affordable, easy to use, and efficient.  Some customers have had problems with the EM-100, but the vast majority says it is a great machine with top-shelf features and reliable performance at a very reasonable price.  If you want to save money on your next home espresso maker, and you want the option of choosing to use pods or grounds, then the Cuisinart EM-100 is a great choice.
